History

RPL was founded in 1968 by Geoff Sage to provide a fast track one off/AOG manual turning and grinding supply capability. In 1996 it moved to premises in Ashton Vale Road, Bristol where it built its reputation for specialist thread rolling along with a milling, turning and grinding capability.

In 2012 Geoff retired and ownership of the Company passed to Mike Love with Geoffs son Kevin Sage, now managing director, retaining a minority interest in the Company. Rob Laird joined the Board as Operations Director at this juncture, subsequently taking a minority interest in the ownership of the Company.

Further investment by the Directors saw the procurement of 3 and 5 axis milling machines, an expansion of the engineering team and the addition of more advanced lathes, thread rolling machines and inspection/laboratory equipment. This investment facilitated the transition of the Company from a one off jobbing company to a limited volume manufacturer of sub 1 meter components, while retaining its AOG and one off capability.

In 2013 as a direct consequence of growth in turnover RPL moved to larger premises on South Liberty Lane, Bristol, which is its current centre of operations. With further growth in sales annual turnover is now £5m.
